Tamara Levitt is Head of Mindfulness at Calm, where she writes, produces and narrates the growing library of meditation and mindfulness content. With Tamara at the helm as head meditation instructor, Calm’s audience has grown to over 40 million downloads worldwide. Calm was named “App of the Year” by Apple in 2017.
For over 25 years Tamara has devoted herself to studying and practicing various meditation and mindfulness traditions. In her role at Calm, she works to ensure that the teachings of mindfulness and Insight meditation/Vipassana maintain the integrity of the original principles, and that they are brought to life in a way that is accessible, relatable, and resonant.
In addition to expanding Calm’s meditation library, she has led special initiatives, such as Calm Schools, a charitable program to provide free meditation content to teachers around the world. She has created meditation programming for partnerships with American Airlines, The Metropolitan Police of London, and (RED).
Tamara is known for her authentic instruction style and heartfelt storytelling. Most recently, she released a Calm Masterclass on Gratitude, and her meditations are being translated into German and Spanish.
Tamara is also the author of 2 mindfulness-themed children’s books published by Wisdom Publications, ‘Happiness Doesn’t Come from Headstands’ and ‘The Secret to Clara’s Calm.’
